Today’s Track: Ani DiFranco ‘Swan Dive’

Ani DiFranco has been around a long time, and this certainly isn’t one of her newest songs, but I found it appropriate for encouragement in daily life.  To just keep going.  ‘Gravity is nothing to me/moving at the speed of sound/just going to get my feet wet/till I drown”  She’s touring this summer–from my hometown, Buffalo (lives around the block!)–and one of the best guitar players I’ve ever seen. Plus she never had to sign to a major label…did it all on her own.

Today’s Track: Dave Matthews Band ‘Spaceman’

Ok, I am not the biggest Dave Matthews Band supporter or fan.  I used to be in college, and even had a poster of him playing the guitar taped to my wall, but times changed, the music got more processed, and I fell off the bandwagon.  Their new CD, Big Whisky…, is actually an improvement and reminds me of the processed-cheese free music of old.  This song is fresh and pure and appropriate for the beginning of summer 🙂 Enjoy and congrats Dave for bringing ‘it’ back.

Today’s Track: Joe Esposito ‘You’re the Best, Around’

Not a new song, but a cool one. In honor of the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge race today.  Although I’ll be walking, not running. 🙂

Today’s Track: My Latest Novel: ‘Pretty in Panic’

I’m so pleased I found this beautiful, romantic song from this group from Scotland.  Indie rock with accents 🙂  Beautiful.  Check out My Latest Novel’s new album ‘Deaths and Entrances.’ If your tired of Irish rock bands, this might be a breath of fresh air for you.

Today’s Track: Mute Math ‘Typical’

This is an older tune, but Mute Math is definitely a great band to explore.  From New Orleans, this band blends dynamic guitars with new wave rhythms.  Around since 2003, this band has already been nominated for several Grammys and packs shows worldwide.  The band also has the energetic single, ‘Spotlight’ on the ‘Twilight’ soundtrack, and is scheduled to release a new album in August 2009.

Track of the Day: Florence And The Machine ‘Kiss With A Fist’

Another great band from the other side of the pond…Florence and Machine is relatively young for a band, 2007, but this song is fun indie pop, high energy, and a great song to make fun of the troubles you have with your significant o.  Look for their new album  in July. She sounds a hell of a lot like Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. Also, Florence is pretty hot.  You can’t beat that.

Track of the Day: Phoenix ‘Lisztomania’

Phoenix has been around since 2000, and this French pop alternative band shows no signs of stopping.  Their new album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, is filled with light rock/pop wonderment.  Their latest single, ‘Lisztomania’ could certainly fit in an iPod commercial.  Viva La France!

Today’s Track: Black Moth Super Rainbow ‘Born On A Day The Sun Didn’t Rise’

http://blip.fm/~74uiq

Ok, if anything listen to this track because of the band name.  I know that is the reason I did! This band has finally fulfilled my quest for another band like Air, producing a product reminiscent of their masterpiece ‘The Virgin Suicides.’  It’s airy, yet solid.  This track comes from the band’s new album, ‘Eating Us.’  Black Moth has been around for over a decade, but taking on different monikers including Satanstompingcaterpillars, Tobacco, Power Pill Fist and Allegany White Fish.  This band from Pittsburgh played SXSW this year, and is definitely making a break.

Today’s Track: T.I. and Rihanna ‘Live Your Life’

In honor of T.I. reporting to prison…. ♫ http://blip.fm/~72fsr

Today’s Track: The Hold Steady: ‘Stuck Between Stations’

This track is a few years older, but The Hold Steady are a band from Brooklyn, who put a modern spin on sounds that might remind you of Bruce Springsteen or AC/DC.  Check them out for a real rock sound.
